Becoming the Bear

I paint the animals I dream about. They don’t always show up fully formed. Often it’s just a piece of their face or a general shape, but it is enough for me to identify them.
For the longest time I thought these animals were individual characters. Now I believe they are a reflection of myself. A symbolic message from my subconscious. This one, she showed up as half a muzzle and grizzled cheek, gently leaning into my own face. Her warmth filled my belly and I felt her breath building while my ears buzzed with energy in the same timber as a low growl.
Ultimately it doesn’t matter what my story with Bear might be - it’s how the viewer perceives and responds to her. So I have to ask - who is this particular one - what is the story she’s whispering to you as she leans in?
